 Today,
the Newtown Florist Club is recognized regionally and nationally as one of
the leaders in the environmental justice movement.
The Club organizes a "Toxic Tour" of Gainesville on a regular basis. Participants can learn about toxins, dioxin, chemical emissions, air pollution, and other such problems caused by industries located within just a few blocks of the Newtown Neighborhood. This includes poultry plants, a junk yard, chemical processing plants, a grain mill, refineries and much more. |
